recipes and stories from an Army brat with no roots

Home

Hello and welcome to No Roots Cooking – I am so glad you’re here with me!

I grew up as an Army brat and I’ve moved all over the world and never really had a “home” to put down my roots and started to realize that there are so many people in my family and my life that know more about me than I know about myself, so I started this project with one goal in mind – to discover my roots – but it has become soooo much more.

I quickly realized that all of us are at a real risk in this digital world of losing the history, the stories and most importantly, the recipes and food that have made us the people we are today – each and every one of us.

My goal now is to not just discover my own roots, but to listen, learn and write about the people and the food around me – before its lost.

So join me in discovering my roots and yours through the people, the recipes and the food that connects us all.

xo,

Mike

Welcome to No Roots Cooking!

I'm Mike. I'm so glad you're here!

I’ve cooked in fine-dining, I’ve been a pastry chef and now I’m a home cook. As an Army brat I grew up moving around the world every few years and frankly, have no roots to call my own. I'm trying to find those roots through food and stories.

Here you will find recipes from my childhood, my travels and my obsessions.
